THORNYBUSH GAME RESERVE
Set in the northeast of South Africa, Thornybush is a private game reserve to the west of Kruger National Park. At 200 square kilometres, Thornybush is a decent sized reserve, bordering Kapama Reserve and located closely to Timbavati Game Reserve. There are no fences between Thornybush and the neighbouring reserves and Kruger National Park, which makes it part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem with the game roaming completely freely between.
Wildlife
Home to the Big Five and a variety of other African wildlife species, Thornybush Game Reserve is a great option for a Greater Kruger safari, if your requirement is not to stay in one of the the more famous ones. The guides at Thornybush pride themselves on being able to get you close to big game, including lions, leopards and hyenas.
The landscape is a diverse mix of relatively flat thorn-scrub, with some smaller open grasslands and riverine forest.
