KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
Kidepo Valley is just about as far off the beaten track as you can get in East Africa, being snuggled right up against the border with South Sudan. It is therefore a safari destination that we recommend for those travellers returning to Africa. Despite its remoteness, it isn't that difficult to get to though. It is possible to catch a 2 hour flight from the city of Entebbe.
Once you have arrived, you are guaranteed to have a peaceful safari experience, devoid of the crowds you often find elsewhere in East Africa. Kidepo is a prized treasure waiting to be explored and is possibly the best place in Uganda to see cheetah. Lion sightings are fantastic too and I have never seen such huge herds of ostrich before - a fabulous sighting!
Apart from the wildlife experience, authentic cultural experiences are also guaranteed here, for those who have an interest in visiting the local villages around Kidepo Valley, where many of the guides and lodge staff come from.
