Tambora Liveaboard
Tambora Liveaboard in Indonesia the beautiful 42m vessel is custom designed built for scuba diving and combines old world charm and style with 21st-century luxury and amenities. She cruises to some of the most remote and exotic destinations in Indonesia. Her itineraries include Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, Halmahera, the Forgotten Islands, Ambon and the Banda Sea.
She is a traditional Indonesian wooden sailing vessel, built in the centuries-old Phinisi style on the island of Sulawesi in 2007.
Throughout the entire vessel, design elements have been implemented to reduce noise as such, or as a consequence of excessive vibration. Soundproofing has been installed in the separating walls between cabins, ceilings and decks to ensure guest privacy and mitigate step noise. Extra thick engine room bulkheads absorb engine noise. Flexible power train coupling and a special propeller made of very stiff alloy minimise vibration and thus structural noise. A “silent” water-cooled air conditioning system does not need noisy radiator fans.
All ceilings and decks have been thermally insulated to prevent excessive overheating of rooms underneath. In addition, Tambora’s white hull helps to keep indoor temperatures comfortable.
She is equipped with a full range of IMO (International Marine Organization) safety, communication and navigation equipment.
She accommodates 16 divers in 8 spacious air-conditioned, the spacious guest suites have a choice of double bed cabins or twin beds cabin. The bunks are all longitudinally aligned with the vessel, so guests sleep in the direction of the vessel movement. Cabins are well decorated with a writing desk, ample storage space and plenty of power outlets. They have individual reading lights above each bed and porthole windows for natural light and fresh air.
The large salon, with separate areas for dining and relaxing, is well ventilated but is also equipped with air conditioning for rainy days. There is plenty of space to relax over drinks with fellow divers, enjoy a book, work on your laptop or enjoy a movie on the flat-screen TV.
With three outdoor lounge areas in the sun and shade, there is enough space and privacy for all.
The chef serves tasty Indonesian, European and Japanese dishes. Five meals per day mean there always is a delicious bite waiting for you when you surface! There is a dedicated dive station with separate wet and dry sections. The wet section features personal dive baskets for all guests and two large rinsing tanks. The dry section has an ample workspace and multiple power sockets.
All dives are conducted from one of Tambora’s two large tenders. They have plenty of space for up to ten divers. The tenders are equipped with dive racks for holding your gear to/from the dive site. Each tender has a large ladder at the stern for easy re-entry.
