MALAWI NATIONAL PARKS
Liwonde is a National Park on the rise. Once infamous for the amount of deadly human/wildlife interactions, since 2015 it has undergone something a transformation. A new force of game rangers has been created who have who used modern technology the protect the broad array of animals found in Liwonde. You will find hippos, elephants, giraffes and antelopes here. And in more recent times, lions, blach rhinos cheetahs have been reintroduced to the park. Bear in mind that sightings of these animals are still rare, as their numbers grow.
Home to the Big 5, Majete is probably the best National Park to visit if you are looking to see big mammals in Malawi. There is a healthy population of elephants and the lion population has recently been bolstered. Having lain mostly in ruins at the beginning of the millenium, perhaps the real charm is visiting this park is to see how nature and wildlife have regained their foothold here under the careful eye of a dedicated team of game rangers. Sightings of predators are rare, but with a bit of luck and a knowledgeable guide, you can make it happen.
