THE BALIEM VALLEY RESORT is located at the eastern edge of the Baliem Valley. Its name is derived from the second-largest high valley of Papua New Guinea. The Baliem Valley with its provincial capital of Wamena is the home of the Dani and Lani tribes. To this day it can only be reached by plane. A breathtaking and truly primordial experience for any visitor!
The resort includes a restaurant with large observation terrace, a reception with conference building, and 15 bungalows in the traditional Dani-Honay style; all are equipped with a modern bathroom, comfortable interiors and a large sun terrace. The terrace affords stunning views of the Baliem Valley and the nearby high-altitude mountain range of Trikora.
THE BALIEM VALLEY RESORT offers fantastic opportunities for hikers of all abilities wishing to explore the territories of the Dani and Lani tribes. In ten varied day-trips visitors can discover the entire highland. Many of the paths lead through the traditionally cultivated gardens, vast bush and grasslands, and wonderful primary rainforests full of orchids, moss and ferns. Discover the quaint settlements of the some 300 Dani tribal people scattered across the resort grounds. The people here are friendly and helpful, and they are pleased to see visitors.

How do I get there?
Garuda Indonesia Airlines and Sriwijaya Air fly daily, both from Denpasar/Bali and from Jakarta to Jayapura. In Jayapura you will be met by one of the resort staff members based in Jayapura, who will present you with your ticket for your onward flight to Wamena and the Baliem Valley. Your flight time to Wamena is about 30 minutes. In Wamena your guide will be waiting for you.
On request we can look after you from the moment you arrive on Bali, including your flight booking to Jayapura with a staff member in Bali will take care of your tickets and airport transfer. If you like you can combine your trip to the Baliem Valley with a visit to Raja Ampat or Komodo.
