Small Hope Bay Lodge is a true Bahamas all-inclusive resort on Andros Island where you can get away and relax. Family owned and operated since 1960, Small Hope Bay Lodge is the original SCUBA diving, bonefishing and snorkelling resort on the undeveloped island. Safe, peaceful, and secluded (nestled on the edge of the world's 3rd largest barrier reef) unspoiled Andros Island, is perfect for a family vacation, relaxing holiday, romantic honeymoon, or wedding. Enjoy your beachfront cabin plus diving, snorkelling, fishing, nature walks, an extensive library, and more. Diving is offered daily from the resort’s own pier based dive centre. The menu of fresh international cuisine changes daily, even the breakfast specials, and includes many Bahamian dishes. In our view Small Hope Bay Lodge offers a great all round package for those looking to do a wide range of activities and has a lot to offer families.

Each cabin is located on the private beach yet is only a stone’s throw away from the central dining lodge with the dining area, bar, lounge and games room. Most of the year round meals are served al fresco in the outdoor patio area overlooking the sea.
Small Hope Bay is a friendly, informal and playful place. Families are an integral part of the Small Hope way of life. Four generations of Birches have lived there, and two generations have been raised there. Small Hope is ideal for family gatherings as it is small, secluded, and very informal. Everyone knows everyone on a first name basis. There is plenty of space in which to roam and lots of places to gather. For non-divers or in between dives there is a beach patio, hammocks under the palms, a dock for stargazing, a pine grove, free wi-fi in the lounge, and lots of white sand beachfront.
The ocean is the medium for family recreation at Small Hope Bay, and snorkelling and diving are among the central activities. There are two beaches to explore, and the topography includes shallow bays, tidal pools, and a gentle lagoon dotted with patch reefs. Snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing, and kayaking are easy to do right from shore, and the resort offers the equipment.
One mile offshore is the Andros Barrier Reef, one of the largest and most pristine reef systems in the world. The shallows of the reef are in the 10-15 foot depth range, and provide myriad snorkelling sites. The resort offers snorkelling excursions by boat every day to the reef. For divers, the reef offers coral gardens, walls, caverns, and blue holes. Reef shark, dolphin, turtle and ray are commonly sited. If you don't know how to dive, they can teach you. Discover SCUBA instruction is complimentary to all guests and their children ten years and over. In one afternoon we'll teach you to SCUBA dive then they will take you out diving.
Family Friendly Activities:
For the under tens, they can offer Bubble Maker SASY lessons, a surface SCUBA experience designed expressly for youngsters; on shore, families can enjoy the natural world of the Andros landscape. Complimentary babysitting is provided for 2 to 7 year olds in the games room at dinner/cocktail time. It is a Small Hope tradition that children under 8 dine at 6:30 PM in their own seating area in the Games Room. This allows adults time to enjoy the evening social hour and dine later in the evening, while young children enjoy supervised post-dinner activities. A nominal fee for private babysitting services is charged for babies under two. Small Hope has 13 one-bedroom cottages and 4 two-bedroom cottages. There is no surcharge for extra cot service or cribs. During the summer months they waive the 2 adult requirements for children to qualify for their reduced rate.
