Hluhluwe River Lodge
Located on the western shore of Lake St Lucia and adjoining False Bay Game Reserve and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, the lodge has a superb view of the Hluhluwe River floodplain and False Bay. Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park is just thirty minutes away.
12 luxury thatched chalets, each with its own viewing deck, modern air conditioners, mosquito nets and electronic safe, are dotted around an indigenous forest There are eight standard chalets, sleeping two, and two family chalets each sleeping four, and two Honeymoon chalets that sleep two. All chalets have en-suite shower and bathroom facilities and the honeymoon chalets have a romantic Victorian-style bath.
There is a central main lodge with a lounge and wifi, a dining area where delicious meals are served, the pub with its great wine list, and the fire pit for drinks under the stars. The lodge has an interesting local history museum too. .
From the main lodge, a network of lit paths lead to each of the rooms, and there is a secluded swimming pool in the garden.
Mkhulu’s House is ideal for a family of four or two adult couples. It is equipped for a self-catering holiday, however meals can be booked at the lodge restaurant in advance.
Activities and plentiful: Hiking, Birding, Evening Spider walks, Pineapple tours, self-drive to the various game reserves and beaches. There are also Mountain bike trails in the forests and along the pristine shores of Lake St Lucia.
